And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired ¹  to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

When ¹  he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, exhausted ²  from grief.

While ¹  they were talking and debating ²  these things, ³  Jesus himself approached and began to accompany them

Then ¹  he said to them, “What are these matters ²  you are discussing so intently ³  as you walk along?” And they stood still, looking sad.

Now ¹  during the blessing ²  he departed ³  and was taken up into heaven. ⁴ 

Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus ¹  before and who was one of the rulers, ²  said, ³ 

So Pilate came outside to them and said, “What accusation ¹  do you bring against this man?” ² 

angry ¹  because they were teaching the people and announcing ²  in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

After ¹  making Peter and John ²  stand in their midst, they began to inquire, “By what power or by what name ³  did you do this?”

And they called them in and ordered ¹  them not to speak or teach at all in the name ²  of Jesus.

But during the night an angel of the Lord ¹  opened ²  the doors of the prison, ³  led them out, ⁴  and said,

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

Then he said to the council, ¹  “Men of Israel, ²  pay close attention to ³  what you are about to do to these men.

but if ¹  it is from God, you will not be able to stop them, or you may even be found ²  fighting against God.” He convinced them, ³ 

But get up, ¹  go down, and accompany them without hesitation, ²  because I have sent them.”

So he gave orders to have them baptized ¹  in the name of Jesus Christ. ²  Then they asked him to stay for several days.

On a day determined in advance, Herod ¹  put on his royal robes, ²  sat down on the judgment seat, ³  and made a speech ⁴  to them.

When both the Gentiles and the Jews (together with their rulers) made ¹  an attempt to mistreat ²  them and stone them, ³ 

When they had appointed elders ¹  for them in the various churches, ²  with prayer and fasting ³  they entrusted them to the protection ⁴  of the Lord in whom they had believed.

After they stopped speaking, ¹  James replied, ²  “Brothers, listen to me.
