In the house ¹  of the righteous is abundant wealth, ²  but the income of the wicked brings trouble. ³ 

The heart of the righteous considers ¹  how ²  to answer, ³  but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. ⁴ 

The wicked become ¹  a ransom ²  for the righteous, and the faithless ³  are taken ⁴  in the place of the upright.

The father of a righteous person will rejoice greatly; ¹  whoever fathers a wise child ²  will have joy in him.

Do not lie in wait like the wicked ¹  against the place where the righteous live; do not assault ²  his home.

Like a muddied ¹  spring and a polluted ²  well, so is a righteous person who gives way ³  before the wicked.

The wicked person flees when there is no one pursuing, ¹  but the righteous person is as confident ²  as a lion.

When the righteous rejoice, ¹  great is the glory, ²  but when the wicked rise to power, people are sought out. ³ 

In the transgression of an evil person there is a snare, ¹  but a righteous person can sing ²  and rejoice. ³ 

The righteous person cares for ¹  the legal rights ²  of the poor; the wicked does not understand such ³  knowledge.

For ¹  there is not one truly ²  righteous person on the earth who continually does good and never sins.

They ¹  were both righteous in the sight of God, following ²  all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly. ³ 

Jesus ¹  also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down ²  on everyone else.

Now ¹  there was a man named Joseph who was a member of the council, ²  a good and righteous man.

Therefore if the uncircumcised man obeys ¹  the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?

For we consider that a person ¹  is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law. ² 

¹ Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have ²  peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Thus the law had become our guardian ¹  until Christ, so that we could be declared righteous ²  by faith.

But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I ¹  take no pleasure in him. ² 

and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man in anguish over the debauched lifestyle of lawless ¹  men, ²
