Then Jesus ¹  asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene.”

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, ¹  replied, ²  “Rulers of the people and elders, ³ 

But when they had ordered them to go outside the council, ¹  they began to confer with one another,

None of the rest dared to join them, ¹  but the people held them in high honor. ² 

They ¹  laid hands on ²  the apostles and put them in a public jail.

Now when they heard this, they became furious ¹  and wanted to execute them. ² 

And they paid close attention to him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.

Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans, ¹  and they received the Holy Spirit. ² 

and when he had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

For ¹  a period of about forty years he put up with ²  them in the wilderness. ³ 

So after they shook ¹  the dust off their feet ²  in protest against them, they went to Iconium. ³ 

Therefore we are sending ¹  Judas and Silas ²  who will tell you these things themselves in person. ³ 

After ¹  they had spent some time there, ²  they were sent off in peace by the brothers to those who had sent them. ³ 

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

After ¹  the city officials ²  had received bail ³  from Jason and the others, they released them.

They court you eagerly, ¹  but for no good purpose; ²  they want to exclude you, so that you would seek them eagerly. ³ 

and to esteem them most highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

Remind them to be subject to rulers and ¹  authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work.

Thus he became ¹  so far better than the angels as ²  he has inherited a name superior to theirs.

For if Joshua had given them rest, God ¹  would not have spoken afterward about another day.
