Look at the people of Israel. ¹  Are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar?

But see how great he must be, if ¹  Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe ²  of his plunder.

Why do you hide your face ¹  and regard me as your enemy?

“How long until you ¹  make an end of words? ²  You must consider, ³  and then ⁴  we can talk.

because they have turned away from following him, and have not understood ¹  any of his ways,

I thought about the days of old, about ancient times. ¹ 

Think about what I am saying and ¹  the Lord will give you understanding of all this. ² 

When I look up at the heavens, which your fingers made, and see the moon and the stars, which you set in place, ¹ 

Why do you worry about clothing? Think about how the flowers ¹  of the field grow; they do not work ²  or spin.

Remember the ancient days; bear in mind ¹  the years of past generations. ²  Ask your father and he will inform you, your elders, and they will tell you.

Next, I decided to consider ¹  wisdom, as well as foolish behavior and ideas. ²  For what more can the king’s successor do than what the king ³  has already done?

I will do this so ¹  people ²  will observe and recognize, so they will pay attention and understand that the Lord’s power ³  has accomplished this, and that the Holy One of Israel has brought it into being.” ⁴ 

At the beginning of your requests a message went out, and I have come to convey it to you, for you are of great value in God’s sight. ¹  Therefore consider the message and understand the vision: ² 

Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me ¹  your way, that I may know you, ²  that I may continue to find ³  favor in your sight. And see ⁴  that this nation is your people.”

Now be aware of this, and see what you can do. For disaster has been planned for our lord and his entire household. ¹  He is such a wicked person ²  that no one tells him anything!”

ר (Resh) Look, O Lord! Consider! ¹  Whom have you ever afflicted ²  like this? Should women eat their offspring, ³  their healthy infants? ⁴  Should priest and prophet be killed in the Lord’s ⁵  sanctuary?

My guests ¹  and my servant girls consider ²  me a stranger; I am a foreigner ³  in their eyes.

For this reason I carefully follow all your precepts. ¹  I hate all deceitful actions. ² 

ר (Resh) See my pain and rescue me! For I do not forget your law.

But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ.
