But Simon Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple who was acquainted with the high priest came out and spoke to the slave girl who watched the door, ¹  and brought Peter inside.

But Peter sent them all outside, ¹  knelt down, ²  and prayed. Turning ³  to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴ 

When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she did not open the gate, but ran back in and told ¹  them ²  that Peter was standing at the gate.

Now ¹  when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying down, ²  sick with a fever.

Simon Peter answered, ¹  “You are the Christ, ²  the Son of the living God.”

Peter ¹  said to him, “If they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away!”

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became anguished and distressed.

He spoke openly about this. So ¹  Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

Peter began to speak to him, “Look, ¹  we have left everything to follow you!” ² 

Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered.”

He took Peter, James, ¹  and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

Now ¹  while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s slave girls ²  came by.

Simon ¹  (whom he named Peter), and his brother Andrew; and James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, ² 

Then ¹  Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?” ² 

And Peter said, “Look, we have left everything we own ¹  to follow you!” ² 

Jesus ¹  sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover ²  for us to eat.” ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow ²  today until you have denied ³  three times that you know me.”

Then ¹  they arrested ²  Jesus, ³  led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. ⁴  But Peter was following at a distance.

When they had made a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.
