They crossed at the ford in order to help the king’s household cross and to do whatever he thought appropriate. Now after he had crossed the Jordan, Shimei son of Gera threw himself down before the king.

He took the cloak that had fallen off Elijah, ¹  hit the water with it, and said, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” When he hit the water, it divided and Elisha crossed over.

They will be like a tree planted near a stream whose roots spread out toward the water. It has nothing to fear when the heat comes. Its leaves are always green. It has no need to be concerned in a year of drought. It does not stop bearing fruit.

but your servants will cross over, every man armed for war, to do battle in the Lord’s presence, just as my lord says.”

We will cross armed in the Lord’s presence into the land of Canaan, and then the possession of our inheritance that we inherit will be ours on this side of the Jordan River.” ¹ 

The two and a half tribes have received their inheritance on this side of the Jordan, east of Jericho, ¹  toward the sunrise.”

“You must give three towns on this side of the Jordan, and you must give three towns in the land of Canaan; they must be towns of refuge.

So I must die here in this land; I will not cross the Jordan. But you are going over and will possess that ¹  good land.

Instead, the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy ¹  is one of hills and valleys, a land that drinks in water from the rains, ² 

“The following tribes ¹  must stand to bless the people on Mount Gerizim when you cross the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

Now Moses had assigned land ¹  to the two-and-a-half tribes east of the Jordan, but he assigned no land ²  to the Levites. ³ 

It then crossed to Azmon, extended to the Stream of Egypt, ¹  and ended at the sea. This was their ²  southern border.

Manasseh was allotted ten shares of land, ¹  in addition to the land of Gilead and Bashan east of the Jordan,

Their border went up westward to Maralah and touched Dabbesheth and the valley near ¹  Jokneam.

Their border touched Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth Shemesh, and ended at the Jordan. They had sixteen cities and their towns.

Gilead stayed put ¹  beyond the Jordan River. As for Dan – why did he seek temporary employment in the shipyards? ²  Asher remained ³  on the seacoast, he stayed ⁴  by his harbors. ⁵ 

I will cross the Jordan with the king and go a short distance. ¹  Why should the king reward me in this way?

The fifty members of the prophetic guild went and stood opposite them at a distance, while Elijah and Elisha ¹  stood by the Jordan.

He picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen off him, and went back and stood on the shore of the Jordan.

¹ “You say, ²  ‘He is foam ³  on the face of the waters; ⁴  their portion of the land is cursed so that no one goes to their vineyard. ⁵
