But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she bent down and looked into the tomb.

They ¹  found that the stone had been rolled away from the tomb, ² 

Then Peter and the other disciple set out to go to the tomb. ¹ 

And when he is carried to the tombs, and watch is kept ¹  over the funeral mound, ² 

and placed it ¹  in his own new tomb that he had cut in the rock. ²  Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance ³  of the tomb and went away.

(Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there, opposite the tomb.)

So ¹  they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

When John’s ¹  disciples heard this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.

And very early on the first day of the week, at sunrise, they went to the tomb.

They had been asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?”

Furthermore, some women of our group amazed us. ¹  They ²  were at the tomb early this morning,

And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation ¹  and the tomb was nearby, ²  they placed Jesus’ body there.

After Joseph ¹  bought a linen cloth ²  and took down the body, he wrapped it in the linen and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock. ³  Then ⁴  he rolled a stone across the entrance ⁵  of the tomb.

So ¹  they went with the soldiers ²  of the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

and when they returned from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven ¹  and to all the rest.

The two were running together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter ¹  and reached the tomb first. ² 

Then Simon Peter, who had been following him, arrived and went right into the tomb. He saw ¹  the strips of linen cloth lying there,

Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, came in, and he saw and believed. ¹ 

Then ¹  he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, ²  and placed it ³  in a tomb cut out of the rock, ⁴  where no one had yet been buried. ⁵ 

Now very early on the first day of the week, ¹  while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene ²  came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been moved away from the entrance. ³
