A gift given ¹  in secret subdues ²  anger, and a bribe given secretly ³  subdues ⁴  strong wrath. ⁵ 

so that your gift may be in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. ¹ 

“Stolen waters ¹  are sweet, and food obtained in secret ²  is pleasant!”

When you argue a case ¹  with your neighbor, do not reveal the secret of another person, ² 

Look, you are wiser than Daniel; ¹  no secret is hidden from you. ² 

For the things they do ¹  in secret are shameful even to mention.

so that it will not be obvious to others when you are fasting, but only to your Father who is in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

Hide me from the plots of evil men, from the crowd of evildoers. ¹ 

You are aware of our sins; ¹  you even know about our hidden sins. ² 

But whenever you pray, go into your room, ¹  close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. ² 

For God will evaluate every deed, ¹  including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Do you listen in on God’s secret council? ¹  Do you limit ²  wisdom to yourself?

Certainly the sovereign Lord does nothing without first revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

Then Pharaoh also summoned wise men and sorcerers, ¹  and the magicians ²  of Egypt by their secret arts ³  did the same thing.

The magicians did the same ¹  with their secret arts and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt too. ² 

When ¹  the magicians attempted ²  to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not. So there were gnats on people and on animals.

my bones were not hidden from you, when ¹  I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth. ² 

For nothing is hidden except to be revealed, ¹  and nothing concealed except to be brought to light.

For nothing is hidden ¹  that will not be revealed, ²  and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.

For no one who seeks to make a reputation for himself ¹  does anything in secret. ²  If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”
