The name of the third river is Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria. ¹  The fourth river is the Euphrates.

Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, ¹  and its shoots the Euphrates River. ² 

That day the Lord made a covenant ¹  with Abram: “To your descendants I give ²  this land, from the river of Egypt ³  to the great river, the Euphrates River –

The Kishon River carried them off; the river confronted them ¹  – the Kishon River. Step on the necks of the strong! ²

Every place you set your foot ¹  will be yours; your border will extend from the desert to Lebanon and from the River (that is, the Euphrates) as far as the Mediterranean Sea. ² 

Your territory will extend from the wilderness in the south to Lebanon in the north. It will extend all the way to the great River Euphrates in the east (including all of Syria) ¹  and all the way to the Mediterranean Sea ²  in the west. ³
