Romans 2:16

Context
2:16 on the day when God will judge 1  the secrets of human hearts, 2  according to my gospel 3  through Christ Jesus.

Romans 10:9

Context
10:9 because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord 4  and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 15:8

Context
15:8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised 5  on behalf of God’s truth to confirm the promises made to the fathers, 6

1 tn The form of the Greek word is either present or future, but it is best to translate in future because of the context of future judgment.

2 tn Grk “of people.”

3 sn On my gospel cf. Rom 16:25; 2 Tim 2:8.

4 tn Or “the Lord.” The Greek construction, along with the quotation from Joel 2:32 in v. 13 (in which the same “Lord” seems to be in view) suggests that κύριον (kurion) is to be taken as “the Lord,” that is, Yahweh. Cf. D. B. Wallace, “The Semantics and Exegetical Significance of the Object-Complement Construction in the New Testament,” GTJ 6 (1985): 91-112.

5 tn Grk “of the circumcision”; that is, the Jews.

6 tn Or “to the patriarchs.”
