Psalms 72:3

Context

72:3 The mountains will bring news of peace to the people,

and the hills will announce justice. 1

Psalms 112:7

Context

112:7 He does not fear bad news.

He 2  is confident; he trusts 3  in the Lord.

1 tn Heb “[the] mountains will bear peace to the people, and [the] hills with justice.” The personified mountains and hills probably represent messengers who will sweep over the land announcing the king’s just decrees and policies. See Isa 52:7 and C. A. Briggs and E. G. Briggs, Psalms (ICC), 2:133.

2 tn Heb “his heart,” viewed here as the seat of the volition and emotions (see Ps 108:1).

3 tn The passive participle בָּטֻחַ [בָּטוּחַ] (batuakh [batuakh]) expresses a state that results from the subject’s action. See Isa 26:3.
