25:12 But he replied, 4  ‘I tell you the truth, 5  I do not know you!’

Matthew 26:32

Context

26:32 But after I am raised, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”

1 tn Grk “workers of lawlessness.”

2 tn The imperfect verb is here taken iteratively, for the context suggests that the woman was trying to find the courage to touch Jesus’ cloak.

3 tn Grk “saved.”

sn In this pericope the author uses a term for being healed (Grk “saved”) that would have spiritual significance to his readers. It may be a double entendre (cf. parallel in Mark 5:28 which uses the same term), since elsewhere he uses verbs that simply mean “heal”: If only the reader would “touch” Jesus, he too would be “saved.”

4 tn Grk “But answering, he said.” This is somewhat redundant and has been simplified in the translation.

5 tn Grk “Truly (ἀμήν, amhn), I say to you.”
