Joshua 6:20

Context

6:20 The rams’ horns sounded 1  and when the army 2  heard the signal, 3  they gave a loud battle cry. 4  The wall collapsed 5  and the warriors charged straight ahead into the city and captured it. 6 

Joshua 8:13

Context
8:13 The army was in position – the main army north of the city and the rear guard west of the city. That night Joshua went into 7  the middle of the valley.

Joshua 10:27

10:27 At sunset Joshua ordered his men to take them down from the trees. 8  They threw them into the cave where they had hidden and piled large stones over the mouth of the cave. (They remain to this very day.) 9

18:9 The men journeyed 12  through the land and mapped it and its cities out into seven regions on a scroll. Then they came to Joshua at the camp in Shiloh.

1 tc Heb “and the people shouted and they blew the rams’ horns.” The initial statement (“and the people shouted”) seems premature, since the verse goes on to explain that the battle cry followed the blowing of the horns. The statement has probably been accidentally duplicated from what follows. It is omitted in the LXX.

4 tn Heb “they shouted with a loud shout.”

5 tn Heb “fell in its place.”
