Joshua 5:15

Context
5:15 The commander of the Lord’s army answered Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, because the place where you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.

Joshua 6:7

6:7 And he told 1  the army, 2  “Move ahead 3  and march around the city, with armed troops going ahead of the ark of the Lord.”

Joshua 8:9-10

8:9 Joshua sent them away and they went to their hiding place 4  west of Ai, between Bethel 5  and Ai. 6  Joshua spent that night with the army. 7 

8:10 Bright and early the next morning Joshua gathered 8  the army, 9  and he and the leaders 10  of Israel marched 11  at the head of it 12  to Ai.

10:33 Then King Horam of Gezer came up to help Lachish, but Joshua struck down him and his army 13  until no survivors remained.

1 tn An alternative reading is “and they said.” In this case the subject is indefinite and the verb should be translated as passive, “[the army] was told.”
