Joshua 4:18

Context
4:18 The priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord came up from the middle of the Jordan, and as soon as they set foot on dry land, 1  the water of the Jordan flowed again and returned to flood stage. 2

Joshua 10:24

Context
10:24 When they brought the kings out to Joshua, he 3  summoned all the men of Israel and said to the commanders of the troops who accompanied him, “Come here 4  and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So they came up 5  and put their feet on their necks.

1 tn Heb “and the soles of the feet of the priests were brought up to the dry land.”

2 tn Heb “and the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and went as formerly over their banks.”

sn Verses 15-18 give a more detailed account of the priests’ crossing that had been briefly described in v. 11.

3 tn Heb “Joshua.” The translation has replaced the proper name with the pronoun (“he”) because a repetition of the proper name here would be redundant according to English style.

4 tn Or “Draw near.”

5 tn Or “drew near.”
