Joshua 1:13

1:13 “Remember what Moses the Lord’s servant commanded you. 1  The Lord your God is giving you a place to settle and is handing this land over to you. 2 

Joshua 4:9

Context
4:9 Joshua also set up twelve stones 3  in the middle of the Jordan in the very place where the priests carrying the ark of the covenant stood. They remain there to this very day.

Joshua 6:23

Context
6:23 So the young spies went and brought out Rahab, her father, mother, brothers, and all who belonged to her. They brought out her whole family and took them to a place outside 4  the Israelite camp.

Joshua 7:26

Context
7:26 Then they erected over him a large pile of stones (it remains to this very day 5 ) and the Lord’s anger subsided. So that place is called the Valley of Disaster to this very day.

Joshua 8:19

8:19 When he held out his hand, the men waiting in ambush rose up quickly from their place and attacked. 6  They entered the city, captured it, and immediately set it on fire.

1 tn Heb “remember the word which Moses, the Lord’s servant, commanded you.”

sn This command can be found in Deut 3:18-20. In vv. 13-15 Joshua paraphrases the command, as the third person reference to Moses in v. 14 indicates.

2 tn Heb “is providing rest for you and is giving to you this land.”

sn “This land” refers to the trans-Jordanian lands allotted to these tribes.

3 tn Here “also” has been supplied in the translation to make it clear (as indicated by v. 20) that these are not the same stones the men took from the river bed.

4 tn Or “placed them outside.”

5 tc Heb “to this day.” The phrase “to this day” is omitted in the LXX and may represent a later scribal addition.

6 tn Heb “and ran.”
