Context

20:15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?” Because she 15  thought he was the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him.”

1 tn Or “give it up.”

2 tn Or “of my own accord.” “Of my own free will” is given by BDAG 321 s.v. ἐμαυτοῦ c.

3 tn Or “I have the right.”

4 tn Or “I have the right.”

5 tn Or “order.”

6 tn Grk And I.” The conjunction καί (kai, “and”) has not been translated here in keeping with the tendency of contemporary English style to use shorter sentences.

7 tn The context indicates that this should be translated as an adversative or contrastive conjunction.

8 tn Or “protect them”; Grk “keep them.”

9 tn Or “by your name.”

10 tn The second repetition of “one” is implied, and is supplied here for clarity.

11 tn Grk “so that I may not be.”

12 tn Or “delivered over.”

13 tn Or “the Jewish leaders”; Grk “the Jews.” Here the phrase refers to the Jewish leaders, especially members of the Sanhedrin. See the note on the phrase “Jewish leaders” in v. 12. In the translation “authorities” was preferred over “leaders” for stylistic reasons.

14 tn Grk “now.”

15 tn Grk “that one” (referring to Mary Magdalene).
