Deuteronomy 9:23

Context
9:23 And when he 1  sent you from Kadesh-Barnea and told you, “Go up and possess the land I have given you,” you rebelled against the Lord your God 2  and would neither believe nor obey him.

Deuteronomy 31:27

Context
31:27 for I know about your rebellion and stubbornness. 3  Indeed, even while I have been living among you to this very day, you have rebelled against the Lord; you will be even more rebellious after my death! 4

Deuteronomy 32:51

Context
32:51 for both of you 5  rebelled against me among the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the desert of Zin when you did not show me proper respect 6  among the Israelites.

1 tn Heb “the Lord.” See note on “he” in 9:3.

2 tn Heb “the mouth of the Lord your God,” that is, against the commandment that he had spoken.

3 tn Heb “stiffness of neck” (cf. KJV, NAB, NIV). See note on the word “stubborn” in Deut 9:6.

4 tn Heb “How much more after my death?” The Hebrew text has a sarcastic rhetorical question here; the translation seeks to bring out the force of the question.

5 tn The use of the plural (“you”) in the Hebrew text suggests that Moses and Aaron are both in view here, since both had rebelled at some time or other, if not at Meribah Kadesh then elsewhere (cf. Num 20:24; 27:14).

6 tn Heb “did not esteem me holy.” Cf. NIV “did not uphold my holiness”; NLT “failed to demonstrate my holiness.”
