16:1 Observe the month Abib 5  and keep the Passover to the Lord your God, for in that month 6  he 7  brought you out of Egypt by night.

Deuteronomy 27:6

27:6 You must build the altar of the Lord your God with whole stones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God.

1 tn Heb “do not listen to,” that is, do not obey.

2 tn Heb “the commandments of the Lord your God.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons to avoid redundancy.

3 tn Heb “am commanding” (so NASB, NRSV).

4 tn Heb “walk after”; NIV “by following”; NLT “by worshiping.” This is a violation of the first commandment, the most serious of the covenant violations (Deut 5:6-7).
