Daniel 2:13

2:13 So a decree went out, and the wise men were about 1  to be executed. They also sought 2  Daniel and his friends so that they could be executed.

Daniel 2:34

Daniel 8:16

8:16 Then I heard a human voice coming from between the banks of the Ulai. It called out, “Gabriel, 5  enable this person to understand the vision.”

Daniel 11:29

Context
11:29 At an appointed time he will again invade the south, but this latter visit will not turn out the way the former one did.

1 tn The Aramaic participle is used here to express the imminent future.

2 tn The impersonal active plural (“they sought”) of the Aramaic verb could also be translated as an English passive: “Daniel and his friends were sought” (cf. NAB).

3 tn Aram “until.”

4 tc The LXX, Theodotion, and the Vulgate have “from a mountain,” though this is probably a harmonization with v. 45.

5 sn The only angels whose names are given in the OT are Gabriel (Dan 8:16; 9:21; cf. Luke 1:19, 26) and Michael (Dan 10:13, 21; 12:1; cf. Jude 9; Rev 12:7). The name Gabriel means in Hebrew “man of God,” and Michael means “who is like God?”
