Acts 9:6

Context
9:6 But stand up 1  and enter the city and you will be told 2  what you must do.”

Acts 10:26

Context
10:26 But Peter helped him up, 3  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” 4

1 tn Or “But arise.”

2 tn Literally a passive construction, “it will be told to you.” This has been converted to another form of passive construction in the translation.

3 tn BDAG 271 s.v. ἐγείρω 3 has “raise, help to rise….Stretched out Ac 10:26.”

4 tn Although it is certainly true that Peter was a “man,” here ἄνθρωπος (anqrwpo") has been translated as “mere mortal” because the emphasis in context is not on Peter’s maleness, but his humanity. Contrary to what Cornelius thought, Peter was not a god or an angelic being, but a mere mortal.
