Context4:4 Now Saul’s son Jonathan had a son who was crippled in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan arrived from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but in her haste to get away, he fell and was injured. 1 Mephibosheth was his name.
2 Samuel 12:4
Context12:4 “When a traveler arrived at the rich man’s home, 2 he did not want to use one of his own sheep or cattle to feed 3 the traveler who had come to visit him. 4 Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and cooked 5 it for the man who had come to visit him.”
2 Samuel 15:20
Context15:20 It seems like you arrived just yesterday. Today should I make you wander around by going with us? I go where I must go. But as for you, go back and take your men 6 with you. May genuine loyal love 7 protect 8 you!”
1 tn Heb “and was lame.”
2 tn Heb “came to the rich man.” In the translation “arrived at the rich man’s home” has been used for stylistic reasons.
3 tn Heb “and he refused to take from his flock and from his herd to prepare [a meal] for.”
4 tn Heb “who had come to him” (also a second time later in this verse). The word “visit” has been supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons and for clarity.
5 tn Heb “and prepared.”
6 tn Heb “brothers,” but see v. 22.
7 tn Heb “loyal love and truth.” The expression is a hendiadys.
