8:44 “When you direct your people to march out and fight their enemies, 1  and they direct their prayers to the Lord 2  toward his chosen city and this temple I built for your honor, 3

20:23 Now the advisers 4  of the king of Syria said to him: “Their God is a god of the mountains. That’s why they overpowered us. But if we fight them in the plains, we will certainly overpower them.

1 Kings 20:25

Context
20:25 Muster an army like the one you lost, with the same number of horses and chariots. 5  Then we will fight them in the plains; we will certainly overpower them.” He approved their plan and did as they advised. 6 

1 tn Heb “When your people go out for battle against their enemies in the way which you send them.”

2 tn Or perhaps “to you, O Lord.” See 2 Chr 6:34.

3 tn Heb “your name.” See the note on the word “reputation” in v. 41.

4 tn Or “servants.”

5 tn Heb “And you, you muster an army like the one that fell from you, horse like horse and chariot like chariot.”
