2:9 But now 1  don’t treat him as if he were innocent. You are a wise man and you know how to handle him; 2  make sure he has a bloody death.” 3

12:18 King Rehoboam sent Adoniram, 4  the supervisor of the work crews, 5  out after them, but all Israel stoned him to death. King Rehoboam managed to jump into his chariot and escape to Jerusalem. 6

21:13 The two villains arrived and sat opposite him. Then the villains testified against Naboth right before the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king.” So they dragged him 7  outside the city and stoned him to death. 8

21:15 When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she 9  said to Ahab, “Get up, take possession of the vineyard Naboth the Jezreelite refused to sell you for silver, for Naboth is no longer alive; he’s dead.”

1 tc The Lucianic recension of the Old Greek and the Vulgate have here “you” rather than “now.” The two words are homonyms in Hebrew.

2 tn Heb “what you should do to him.”

3 tn Heb “bring his grey hair down in blood [to] Sheol.”

4 tc The MT has “Adoram” here, but the Old Greek translation and Syriac Peshitta have “Adoniram.” Cf. 1 Kgs 4:6.
