1 Chronicles 4:41

Context
4:41 The men whose names are listed came during the time of King Hezekiah of Judah and attacked the Hamites’ settlements, 1  as well as the Meunites they discovered there, and they wiped them out to this very day. They dispossessed them, 2  for they found pasture for their sheep there.

1 Chronicles 21:17

Context
21:17 David said to God, “Was I not the one who decided to number the army? I am the one who sinned and committed this awful deed! 3  As for these sheep – what have they done? O Lord my God, attack me and my family, 4  but remove the plague from your people!” 5

1 tn The Hebrew text reads “their tents,” apparently referring to those of the Hamites mentioned at the end of v. 40. Some prefer to emend the text to read, “the tents of Ham.”

2 tn Heb “and they lived in place of them.”

3 tn “and doing evil I did evil.” The infinitive absolute precedes the finite form of the verb for emphasis.

4 tn Heb “let your hand be on me and on the house of my father.”

5 tn Heb “but on your people not for a plague.”
