Psalms 106:26

So he made a solemn vow ¹  that he would make them die ²  in the desert,

So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the desert,

Therefore He swore to them That He would cast them down in the wilderness,

Therefore, he swore that he would kill them in the wilderness,

Exasperated, God swore that he'd lay them low in the desert,

So he made an oath against them, to put an end to them in the waste land:

Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness,

Therefore He raised up His hand in an oath against them, To overthrow them in the wilderness,

So he made a solemn vow ¹  that he would make them die ²  in the desert,

¹ tn Heb “and he lifted his hand to [or “concerning”] them.” The idiom “to lift a hand” here refers to swearing an oath. One would sometimes solemnly lift one’s hand when making such a vow (see Ezek 20:5-6, 15).

² tn Heb “to cause them to fall.”
