Luke 3:10

So ¹  the crowds were asking ²  him, “What then should we do?”

"What should we do then?" the crowd asked.

And the crowds were questioning him, saying, "Then what shall we do?"

The crowd asked, "What should we do?"

The crowd asked him, "Then what are we supposed to do?"

And the people put questions to him, saying, What have we to do?

And the crowds asked him, "What then should we do?"

So the people asked him, saying, "What shall we do then?"

So ¹  the crowds were asking ²  him, “What then should we do?”

¹ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “so” to indicate the consequential nature of the people’s response.

² tn Though this verb is imperfect, in this context it does not mean repeated, ongoing questions, but simply a presentation in vivid style as the following verbs in the other examples are aorist.
