Psalms 119:25

ד (Dalet) I collapse in the dirt. ¹  Revive me with your word! ² 

Daleth I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word.

Daleth. My soul cleaves to the dust; Revive me according to Your word.

I lie in the dust, completely discouraged; revive me by your word.

I'm feeling terrible--I couldn't feel worse! Get me on my feet again. You promised, remember?

¹ tn Heb “my soul clings to the dirt.” The Hebrew term נֶפֶשׁ (nefesh, “being; soul”) with a pronominal suffix is often equivalent to a pronoun, especially in poetry (see BDB 660 s.v. נֶפֶשׁ 4.a).

² tn Heb “according to your word.” Many medieval Hebrew mss read the plural “your words.”
