Micah 1:9

For Samaria’s ¹  disease ²  is incurable. It has infected ³  Judah; it has spread to ⁴  the leadership ⁵  of my people and has even contaminated Jerusalem! ⁶ 

For her wound is incurable; it has come to Judah. It has reached the very gate of my people, even to Jerusalem itself.

For her wound is incurable, For it has come to Judah; It has reached the gate of my people, Even to Jerusalem.

For my people’s wound is far too deep to heal. It has reached into Judah, even to the gates of Jerusalem.

GOD has inflicted punishing wounds; Judah has been wounded with no healing in sight. Judgment has marched through the city gates. Jerusalem must face the charges.

For her wounds may not be made well: for it has come even to Judah, stretching up to the doorway of my people, even to Jerusalem.

For her wound is incurable. It has come to Judah; it has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.

For her wounds are incurable. For it has come to Judah; It has come to the gate of My people––To Jerusalem.

⁵ tn Heb “the gate.” Kings and civic leaders typically conducted important business at the city gate (see 1 Kgs 22:10 for an example), and the term is understood here to refer by metonymy to the leadership who would be present at the gate.

⁶ tn Heb “to Jerusalem.” The expression “it has contaminated” do not appear in the Hebrew text, but have been supplied to fill out the parallelism with the preceding line.
