Luke 24:25

So ¹  he said to them, “You ²  foolish people ³  – how slow of heart ⁴  to believe ⁵  all that the prophets have spoken!

He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

And He said to them, "O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

Then Jesus said to them, "You are such foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures.

Then he said to them, "So thick-headed! So slow-hearted! Why can't you simply believe all that the prophets said?

And he said, O foolish men! how slow you are to give belief to what the prophets have said.

Then he said to them, "Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared!

Then He said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

So ¹  he said to them, “You ²  foolish people ³  – how slow of heart ⁴  to believe ⁵  all that the prophets have spoken!

¹ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “so” to indicate the implied result of the disciples’ inability to believe in Jesus’ resurrection.

² tn Grk “O,” an interjection used both in address and emotion (BDAG 1101 s.v. 1).

³ tn The word “people” is not in the Greek text, but is supplied to complete the interjection.

⁴ sn The rebuke is for failure to believe the promise of scripture, a theme that will appear in vv. 43-47 as well.
