Leviticus 18:24

“‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for the nations which I am about to drive out before you ¹  have been defiled with all these things.

"‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

‘Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled.

"Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the people I am expelling from the Promised Land have defiled themselves.

"Don't pollute yourself in any of these ways. This is how the nations became polluted, the ones that I am going to drive out of the land before you.

Do not make yourself unclean in any of these ways; for so have those nations whom I am driving out from before you made themselves unclean:

Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for by all these practices the nations I am casting out before you have defiled themselves.

‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.

“‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for the nations which I am about to drive out before you ¹  have been defiled with all these things.

¹ tn Heb “which I am sending away (Piel participle of שָׁלַח [shalakh, “to send”]) from your faces.” The rendering here takes the participle as anticipatory of the coming conquest events.
