Exodus 40:32

Whenever they entered ¹  the tent of meeting, and whenever they approached ²  the altar, they would wash, ³  just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

They washed whenever they entered the Tent of Meeting or approached the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.

When they entered the tent of meeting, and when they approached the altar, they washed, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Whenever they walked past the altar to enter the Tabernacle, they were to stop and wash, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.

When they entered the Tent of Meeting and when they served at the Altar, they washed, just as GOD had commanded Moses.

¹ tn The construction is the infinitive construct with the temporal preposition and the suffixed subjective genitive. This temporal clause indicates that the verb in the preceding verse was frequentative.
