1 Samuel 18:13

Saul removed David ¹  from his presence and made him a commanding officer. ²  David led the army out to battle and back. ³ 

So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns.

Therefore Saul removed him from his presence and appointed him as his commander of a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.

Finally, Saul banned him from his presence and appointed him commander over only a thousand men, but David faithfully led his troops into battle.

So, Saul got David out of his sight by making him an officer in the army. David was in combat frequently.

So Saul sent him away, and made him a captain over a thousand; and he went about his business before the people.

So Saul removed him from his presence, and made him a commander of a thousand; and David marched out and came in, leading the army.

Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
