Let your word be ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no.’ More than this is from the evil one. ¹ 

For I delight in faithfulness, not simply in sacrifice; I delight ¹  in acknowledging God, not simply in whole burnt offerings. ² 

They ¹  left their nets immediately and followed him. ² 

They replied, “The Lord needs it.”

But even ¹  when Michael the archangel ²  was arguing with the devil and debating with him ³  concerning Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment, but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!”

“You must not turn away justice for your poor people in their lawsuits.

I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts.

“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true.

But others jeered at the speakers, ¹  saying, “They are drunk on new wine!” ² 

However, ¹  Paul ²  shook ³  the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.

(For the Spirit ¹  had not yet come upon ²  any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) ³ 

Those who want to make a good showing in external matters ¹  are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so ²  only to avoid being persecuted ³  for the cross of Christ.

But now ¹  I ask you, lady (not as if I were ²  writing a new commandment ³  to you, but the one ⁴  we have had from the beginning), ⁵  that ⁶  we love one another.

Enoch walked with God, and then he disappeared ¹  because God took ²  him away.

I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn ¹  me; tell me ²  why you are contending ³  with me.’

“Has anyone said to God, ‘I have endured chastisement, ¹  but I will not act wrongly any more.

Men bow down to them in homage, they lie flat on the ground in worship. ¹  Don’t spare them! ²

Then I said, “O sovereign Lord! They are saying of me, ‘Does he not simply speak in eloquent figures of speech?’”

So pray this way: ¹  Our Father ²  in heaven, may your name be honored, ³
