He shrouded himself in darkness, ¹  in thick rain clouds. ² 

He conceals ¹  the face of the full moon, ²  shrouding it with his clouds.

Though the stillborn child ¹  came into the world ²  for no reason ³  and departed into darkness, though its name is shrouded in darkness, ⁴ 

After Joseph ¹  bought a linen cloth ²  and took down the body, he wrapped it in the linen and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock. ³  Then ⁴  he rolled a stone across the entrance ⁵  of the tomb.

On this mountain he will swallow up the shroud that is over all the peoples, ¹  the woven covering that is over all the nations; ² 

Her house is the way to the grave, ¹  going down ²  to the chambers ³  of death.

Joseph ¹  took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, ² 

You approached and stood at the foot of the mountain, a mountain ablaze to the sky above it ¹  and yet dark with a thick cloud. ² 

He shrouded himself in darkness, ¹  in thick rain clouds. ² 

Then ¹  he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, ²  and placed it ³  in a tomb cut out of the rock, ⁴  where no one had yet been buried. ⁵ 

That day ¹  – let it be darkness; ²  let not God on high regard ³  it, nor let light shine ⁴  on it!

I have sewed sackcloth on my skin, ¹  and buried ²  my horn ³  in the dust;

Hide them in the dust ¹  together, imprison ²  them ³  in the grave. ⁴ 

You shrouded yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can get through.

Let darkness and the deepest shadow ¹  claim it; ²  let a cloud settle on it; let whatever blackens the day ³  terrify it!

He has blocked ¹  my way so I cannot pass, and has set darkness ²  over my paths.

ס (Samek) You shrouded yourself ¹  with anger and then pursued us; you killed without mercy.

Consider Assyria, ¹  a cedar in Lebanon, ²  with beautiful branches, like a forest giving shade, and extremely tall; its top reached into the clouds.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people ¹  who suppress the truth by their ²  unrighteousness, ³
