So the person who resists such authority ¹  resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment

So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.

You have not yet resisted to the point of bloodshed ¹  in your struggle against sin.

You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, although he does not resist you. ¹ 

But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. ¹  But whoever strikes you on the ²  right cheek, turn the other to him as well.

“You stubborn ¹  people, with uncircumcised ²  hearts and ears! ³  You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors ⁴  did!

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who has ever resisted his will?”

Resist him, ¹  strong in your faith, because you know ²  that your brothers and sisters ³  throughout the world ⁴  are enduring ⁵  the same kinds of suffering. ⁶ 

For I will give you the words ¹  along with the wisdom ²  that none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

Yet ¹  they were not able to resist ²  the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

He is wise in heart ¹  and mighty ²  in strength ³  – who has resisted ⁴  him and remained safe? ⁵ 

And just as Jannes and Jambres ¹  opposed Moses, so these people – who have warped minds and are disqualified in the faith ²  – also oppose the truth.

You be on guard against him ¹  too, because he vehemently opposed our words.

For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground ¹  on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.

Now you are declaring that you will resist the Lord’s rule through the Davidic dynasty. ¹  You have a huge army, ²  and bring with you the gold calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

Then the king of the north will advance and will build siege mounds and capture a well-fortified city. ¹  The forces of the south will not prevail, not even his finest contingents. ²  They will have no strength to prevail.

This is the message the Lord previously announced about Moab.

Lawless good-for-nothing men ¹  gathered around him and conspired ²  against Rehoboam son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was an inexperienced young man ³  and could not resist them.

Then with smooth words he will defile ¹  those who have rejected ²  the covenant. But the people who are loyal to ³  their God will act valiantly. ⁴ 

These Gadites were military leaders; the least led a hundred men, the greatest a thousand. ¹
