It is a snare ¹  for a person ²  to rashly cry, ³  “Holy!” and only afterward to consider ⁴  what he has vowed. ⁵ 

for they aroused ¹  his temper, ²  and he spoke rashly. ³ 

So because these facts ¹  are indisputable, ²  you must keep quiet ³  and not do anything reckless. ⁴ 

Speaking recklessly ¹  is like the thrusts of a sword, but the words ²  of the wise bring ³  healing. ⁴ 

I rashly declared, ¹  “All men are liars.”

But because it is heavier ¹  than the sand ²  of the sea, that is why my words have been wild. ³ 

The one who guards his words ¹  guards his life, but ²  whoever is talkative ³  will come to ruin. ⁴ 

The mind that acts rashly will possess discernment ¹  and the tongue that stutters will speak with ease and clarity.

you asked, ¹  ‘Who is this who darkens counsel without knowledge?’ But ²  I have declared without understanding ³  things too wonderful for me to know. ⁴ 

or when a person swears an oath, speaking thoughtlessly ¹  with his lips, whether to do evil or to do good, with regard to anything which the individual might speak thoughtlessly in an oath, even if he did not realize it, but he himself has later come to know it and is guilty with regard to one of these oaths ²  –
