Then the devil took him to the holy city, ¹  had him stand ²  on the highest point ³  of the temple,

I will make your pinnacles out of gems, ¹  your gates out of beryl, ²  and your outer wall ³  out of beautiful ⁴  stones.

Then ¹  the devil ²  brought him to Jerusalem, ³  had him stand ⁴  on the highest point of the temple, ⁵  and said to him, “If ⁶  you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,

It lives on a rock and spends the night there, on a rocky crag ¹  and a fortress. ² 

For from the top of the rocks I see them; ¹  from the hills I watch them. ²  Indeed, a nation that lives alone, and it will not be reckoned ³  among the nations.

He will confirm a covenant with many for one week. ¹  But in the middle of that week he will bring sacrifices and offerings to a halt. On the wing ²  of abominations will come ³  one who destroys, until the decreed end is poured out on the one who destroys.”
