Joseph instructed the physicians in his service ¹  to embalm his father, so the physicians embalmed Israel.

But you, however, are inventors of lies; ¹  all of you are worthless physicians! ² 

Jesus ¹  answered them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. ² 

There is still medicinal ointment ¹  available in Gilead! There is still a physician there! ²  Why then have my dear people ³  not been restored to health? ⁴ 

When ¹  Jesus heard this he said, “Those who are healthy don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. ² 

She had endured a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet instead of getting better, she grew worse.

In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa developed a foot disease. ¹  Though his disease was severe, he did not seek the Lord, but only the doctors. ² 

Jesus ¹  said to them, “No doubt you will quote to me the proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ ²  and say, ‘What we have heard that you did in Capernaum, ³  do here in your hometown too.’”

When Jesus heard this he said to them, “Those who are healthy don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. ¹  I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Now ¹  a woman was there who had been suffering from a hemorrhage ²  for twelve years ³  but could not be healed by anyone.

At that time ¹  the brother will shout, ²  ‘I am no doctor, ³  I have no food or coat in my house; don’t make me a leader of the people!’”

His servants advised ¹  him, “A young virgin must be found for our master, the king, ²  to take care of the king’s needs ³  and serve as his nurse. She can also sleep with you ⁴  and keep our master, the king, warm.” ⁵
