as unknown, and yet well-known; as dying and yet – see! – we continue to live; as those who are scourged ¹  and yet not executed;

Yet even on this point their testimony did not agree.

Yet Jesus himself ¹  frequently withdrew ²  to the wilderness ³  and prayed.

Yet ¹  not a hair of your head will perish. ² 

(For John had not yet been thrown into prison.) ¹ 

Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord; the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.

‘We played the flute for you, yet you did not dance; ¹  we wailed in mourning, ²  yet you did not weep.’

There is one who pretends to be rich ¹  and yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor ²  and yet possesses great wealth. ³ 

I did not send those prophets. Yet they were in a hurry to give their message. ¹  I did not tell them anything. Yet they prophesied anyway.

And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: ‘You will listen carefully ¹  yet will never understand, you will look closely ²  yet will never comprehend.

She named him Joseph, ¹  saying, “May the Lord give me yet another son.”

Is not their excess wealth ¹  taken away from them? ²  They die, ³  yet without attaining wisdom. ⁴ 

He will yet ¹  fill your mouth with laughter, ²  and your lips with gladness.

And after my skin has been destroyed, ¹  yet in my flesh ²  I will see God, ³ 

¹ Yet God ²  finds occasions ³  with me; he regards me as his enemy!

Yet ¹  I wait for you, O Lord! You will respond, O Lord, my God!

Yet they continued to sin against him, and rebelled against the sovereign One ¹  in the desert.

They were not yet filled up, ¹  their food was still in their mouths,

Yet they challenged and defied ¹  the sovereign God, ²  and did not obey ³  his commands. ⁴ 

Yet you will die like mortals; ¹  you will fall like all the other rulers.” ²
