When Saul recognized David’s voice, he said, “Is that your voice, my son David?” David replied, “Yes, it’s my voice, my lord the king.”

After that a voice roars; he thunders with an exalted voice, and he does not hold back his lightning bolts ¹  when his voice is heard.

but when I raised my voice and screamed, he left his outer garment and ran outside.”

“The Levites will call out to every Israelite ¹  with a loud voice:

All the assembly replied in a loud voice: “We will do just as you have said! ¹ 

There ¹  the prisoners ²  relax ³  together; ⁴  they do not hear the voice of the oppressor. ⁵ 

Listen carefully ¹  to the thunder of his voice, to the rumbling ²  that proceeds from his mouth.

God thunders with his voice in marvelous ways; ¹  he does great things beyond our understanding. ² 

Can you raise your voice to the clouds so that a flood of water covers you? ¹ 

There is no actual speech or word, nor is its ¹  voice literally heard.

Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off –

indeed, if ¹  you call out for ²  discernment ³  – raise your voice ⁴  for understanding –

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

“To you, O people, ¹  I call out, and my voice calls ²  to all mankind. ³ 

Then there was a voice from above the platform over their heads when they stood still. ¹ 

A voice says, “Cry out!” Another asks, ¹  “What should I cry out?” The first voice responds: ²  “All people are like grass, ³  and all their promises ⁴  are like the flowers in the field.

When he heard me raise ¹  my voice and scream, he left his outer garment beside me and ran outside.”

When he stood up, he pronounced a blessing over the entire assembly of Israel, saying in a loud voice:

If I summoned him, and he answered me, ¹  I would not believe ²  that he would be listening to my voice –

Do you have an arm as powerful as God’s, ¹  and can you thunder with a voice like his?
