Go and tell them, ‘Return to your tents!’

May their camp become desolate, their tents uninhabited! ¹ 

Now Lot, who was traveling ¹  with Abram, also had ²  flocks, herds, and tents.

‘How ¹  beautiful are your tents, O Jacob, and your dwelling places, O Israel!

It includes ¹  the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, ² 

They grumbled in their tents; ¹  they did not obey ²  the Lord.

They celebrate deliverance in the tents of the godly. ¹  The Lord’s right hand conquers, ² 

Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the first ¹  of those who live in tents and keep ²  livestock.

Of Zebulun he said: Rejoice, Zebulun, when you go outside, and Issachar, when you are in your tents.

if ¹  iniquity is in your hand – put it far away, ²  and do not let evil reside in your tents.

For the company of the godless is barren, ¹  and fire ²  consumes the tents of those who accept bribes. ³ 

He struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their reproductive power ¹  in the tents of Ham.

How miserable I am! ¹  For I have lived temporarily ²  in Meshech; I have resided among the tents of Kedar. ³ 

We have lived in tents. We have obeyed our ancestor Jonadab and done exactly as he commanded us. ¹ 

I see the tents of Cushan overwhelmed by trouble; ¹  the tent curtains of the land of Midian are shaking. ² 

May God enlarge Japheth’s territory and numbers! ¹  May he live ²  in the tents of Shem and may Canaan be his slave!”

Abram settled in the land of Canaan, but Lot settled among the cities of the Jordan plain ¹  and pitched his tents next to Sodom.

So Abram moved his tents and went to live ¹  by the oaks ²  of Mamre in Hebron, and he built an altar to the Lord there.

When the boys grew up, Esau became a skilled ¹  hunter, a man of the open fields, but Jacob was an even-tempered man, living in tents. ² 

You must cook ¹  and eat it in the place the Lord your God chooses; you may return the next morning to your tents.
