Then he uttered this oracle: “O, who will survive when God does this! ¹ 

I said, “Sovereign Lord, stop! How can Jacob survive? ¹  He is too weak!” ² 

He removed from the land any male cultic prostitutes who had managed to survive the reign of his father Asa. ¹ 

Those who survive him are buried by the plague, ¹  and their ²  widows do not mourn for them.

So what advantage does a wise man have over a fool? ¹  And what advantage ²  does a pauper gain by knowing how to survive? ³

As for the cities of these peoples that ¹  the Lord your God is going to give you as an inheritance, you must not allow a single living thing ²  to survive.

I then said, “I will not shepherd you. What is to die, let it die, and what is to be eradicated, let it be eradicated. As for those who survive, let them eat each other’s flesh!”
