Other seeds fell among the thorns, ¹  and they grew up and choked them. ² 

And as he sowed, some seeds ¹  fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them.

Other ¹  seeds fell on rocky ground ²  where they did not have much soil. They sprang up quickly because the soil was not deep. ³ 

But other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.

It is like a mustard seed ¹  that when sown in the ground, even though it is the smallest of all the seeds in the ground –

But God gives it a body just as he planned, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.

It is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest garden plant and becomes a tree, ¹  so that the wild birds ²  come and nest in its branches.” ³
