Then ¹  he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for people, ²  not people for the Sabbath.

For the Son of Man is lord ¹  of the Sabbath.”

Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.

Pray ¹  that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.

For this reason the Son of Man is lord ¹  even of the Sabbath.”

Then ¹  he said to them, “The Son of Man is lord ²  of the Sabbath.”

Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues ¹  on the Sabbath,

It was the day of preparation ¹  and the Sabbath was beginning. ² 

Now because Jesus was doing these things ¹  on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders ²  began persecuting ³  him.

He addressed ¹  both Jews and Greeks in the synagogue ²  every Sabbath, attempting to persuade ³  them.

But if a male child ¹  is circumcised ²  on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses is not broken, ³  why are you angry with me because I made a man completely well ⁴  on the Sabbath?

How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Then ¹  they went to Capernaum. ²  When the Sabbath came, ³  Jesus ⁴  went into the synagogue ⁵  and began to teach.

So ¹  the Pharisees ²  said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is against the law on the Sabbath?”

They watched ¹  Jesus ²  closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath, ³  so that they could accuse him.

Now ¹  when evening had already come, since it was the day of preparation (that is, the day before the Sabbath), ² 

So ¹  he went down to Capernaum, ²  a town ³  in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he began to teach the people. ⁴ 

But some of the Pharisees ¹  said, “Why are you ²  doing what is against the law ³  on the Sabbath?”

On ¹  another Sabbath, Jesus ²  entered the synagogue ³  and was teaching. Now ⁴  a man was there whose right hand was withered. ⁵ 

Then ¹  they returned and prepared aromatic spices ²  and perfumes. ³  On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. ⁴
