During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, ¹  whomever they requested.

So these approached Philip, ¹  who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested, ²  “Sir, we would like to see Jesus.”

They requested ¹  only that we remember the poor, the very thing I also was eager to do.

and requested letters from him to the synagogues ¹  in Damascus, so that if he found any who belonged to the Way, ²  either men or women, he could bring them as prisoners ³  to Jerusalem. ⁴
