the promise ¹  he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac! ² 

In God – I boast in his promise ¹  – in the Lord – I boast in his promise ²  –

the promise ¹  he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac!

However, listen to what I, the Lord, promise you, King Zedekiah of Judah. I, the Lord, promise that ¹  you will not die in battle or be executed. ² 

Remember ¹  continually his covenantal decree, the promise he made ²  to a thousand generations –

He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, ¹ 

Has his loyal love disappeared forever? Has his promise ¹  failed forever?

But I will not remove ¹  my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise. ² 

He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made ¹  to a thousand generations –

He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, ¹ 

Yes, ¹  he remembered the sacred promise ²  he made to Abraham his servant.

They rejected the fruitful land; ¹  they did not believe his promise. ² 

Confirm to your servant your promise, ¹  which you made to the one who honors you. ² 

This ¹  is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me. ² 

And there are times when I promise to build up and establish ¹  a nation or kingdom.

They said to him, “We promise! ¹  We will only take you prisoner and hand you over to them. We promise not to kill you.” They tied him up with two brand new ropes and led him up from the cliff.

Now, O God of Israel, may the promise you made ¹  to your servant, my father David, be realized. ² 

Now, O Lord, you are the true God; ¹  you have made this good promise to your servant. ² 

Now, O Lord God of Israel, may the promise you made to your servant David be realized. ¹ 

My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. ¹  I say, ²  “When will you comfort me?”
