For the Lord listens to the needy; he does not despise his captive people. ¹ 

One who acts wickedly ¹  pays attention to evil counsel; ²  a liar listens ³  to a malicious tongue. ⁴ 

The one who gives an answer ¹  before he listens ²  – that is his folly and his shame. ³ 

If a ruler listens to ¹  lies, ²  all his ministers ³  will be wicked. ⁴ 

Blessed is the one ¹  who listens to me, watching ²  at my doors day by day, waiting ³  beside my doorway. ⁴ 

The way of a fool ¹  is right ²  in his own opinion, ³  but the one who listens to advice is wise. ⁴ 

But the one who listens ¹  to me will live in security, ²  and will be at ease ³  from the dread of harm.

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, ¹  so is a wise reprover to the ear of the one who listens. ² 

So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, ¹  but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens ²  to his advice. ³
