But at his gate lay ¹  a poor man named Lazarus ²  whose body was covered with sores, ³ 

just as the Father knows me and I know the Father – and I lay down my life ¹  for ²  the sheep.

For no one can lay any foundation other than what is being laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Do not lay hands on anyone ¹  hastily and so identify with the sins of others. ²  Keep yourself pure.

Jesus said to him, “Foxes have dens, and the birds in the sky ¹  have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” ² 

From ¹  the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and forceful people lay hold of it. ² 

Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray. ¹  But the disciples scolded those who brought them. ² 

He asked him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Come and lay your hands on her so that she may be healed and live.”

He was not able to do a miracle there, except to lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.

This is why the Father loves me ¹  – because I lay down my life, ²  so that I may take it back again.

Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!” ¹ 

Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? ¹  I tell you the solemn truth, ²  the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times!

The night has advanced toward dawn; the day is near. So then we must lay aside the works of darkness, and put on the weapons of light.

You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside ¹  the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,

Compete well ¹  for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confession ²  for ³  in the presence of many witnesses.

In this way they will save up ¹  a treasure for themselves as a firm foundation ²  for the future and so lay hold of ³  what is truly life.

For it says ¹  in scripture, “Look, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and priceless cornerstone, ²  and whoever believes ³  in him ⁴  will never ⁵  be put to shame.” ⁶ 

We have come to know love by this: ¹  that Jesus ²  laid down ³  his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.

No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down ¹  of my own free will. ²  I have the authority ³  to lay it down, and I have the authority ⁴  to take it back again. This commandment ⁵  I received from my Father.”
