Little children, guard yourselves from idols. ¹ 

Then they sat down and kept guard over him there.

Now ¹  the men who were holding Jesus ²  under guard began to mock him and beat him.

You be on guard against him ¹  too, because he vehemently opposed our words.

Pilate said to them, “Take ¹  a guard of soldiers. Go and make it as secure as you can.”

So ¹  they went with the soldiers ²  of the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

Now ¹  there were shepherds ²  nearby ³  living out in the field, keeping guard ⁴  over their flock at night.

After they had beaten them severely, ¹  they threw them into prison and commanded ²  the jailer to guard them securely.

The ¹  whole imperial guard ²  and everyone else knows ³  that I am in prison ⁴  for the sake of Christ,

And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds ¹  in Christ Jesus.

Then they understood that he had not told them to be on guard against the yeast in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

While ¹  they were going, some ²  of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.

(Now the betrayer ¹  had given them a sign, saying, “The one I kiss is the man. Arrest him and lead him away under guard.”) ² 

He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard ¹  how he might ²  betray Jesus, ³  handing him over to them. ⁴ 

While Peter and John ¹  were speaking to the people, the priests and the commander ²  of the temple guard ³  and the Sadducees ⁴  came up ⁵  to them,

Now when the commander ¹  of the temple guard ²  and the chief priests heard this report, ³  they were greatly puzzled concerning it, ⁴  wondering what this could ⁵  be.

he said, “I will give you a hearing ¹  when your accusers arrive too.” Then ²  he ordered that Paul ³  be kept under guard in Herod’s palace. ⁴ 

He ordered the centurion ¹  to guard Paul, ²  but to let him have some freedom, ³  and not to prevent any of his friends ⁴  from meeting his needs. ⁵ 

Meanwhile, ¹  when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus ²  began to speak first to his disciples, “Be on your guard against ³  the yeast of the Pharisees, ⁴  which is hypocrisy. ⁵ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “Watch out and guard yourself from ²  all types of greed, ³  because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
